More About Why This Blog Exists

I've enjoyed writing stories ever since I can remember.
When I was about thirteen, I wrote a novella. I gave it to one of my old primary school teachers and asked if she would read it to her grade four class.
The feedback I got from the kids could not have been more encouraging! I kept some of the comments they wrote:
“I thought it was exciting. I looked forward to reading it each day.”
“When I’d finished listening to the story, I was sorry it had ended.”
This encouraged me to write more and I have since produced hundreds of pages of fiction, including several novels.
Of course, I soon started to think about getting my work published.
If people like to read my stuff, then publishers will surely like to publish it... right?
As it happens, that's not how it works.
I have plenty of letters from publishers complimenting me on my work and telling me that they enjoyed reading it... but that they can't publish it.
Publishing is, after all, a business. What I had failed to do when writing my books was to think of things from the publisher's point of view. So I ended up with manuscripts which people liked to read, but which were really hard to sell.
     Curses.

Still, the fact of the matter is that people consistently say they like reading my novels and stories, so I created this blog so that people can read my stuff without anybody having to sell anything. All that fiction is no good to anybody just sitting around on my hard drive.

If you like my work, leave me a comment!
If you start reading and you get tired, don't finish.

     Thanks for visiting!
     Cheers!
     Sparkey Davis.
